OVERVIEW: SHARK CAGE DIVING

How it begins:

We will collect you from Cape Town, Hermanus or any other surrounding area. You can also drive to us yourself If you have your own transport and we also offer helicopter transfers on request. We will take you on a scenic drive to our luxury 5 Star ocean view ‘White Shark Headquarters’ which is our base in Kleinbaai. You will enjoy a delicious continental breakfast and have the use of our bathroom facilities to change into your swimwear If you choose to dive. We will discuss current sightings and sign a indemnity form, have a safety briefing and put life jackets on before heading off to board our custom built 36 ft, 4 tone white shark dive catamaran – ‘Shark Team’. We limit her to 20 passenger capacity plus 5 crew to ensure your comfort and viewing pleasure throughout your adventure experience.
You get to meet one of our intrepid skippers and our Dive Master. Our Marine biologist and experienced crew will guide you through your every move so you know exactly what we are doing and why. We explain how White Shark Projects works with the sharks in the area and how you will spend the next couple of hours diving and viewing these wondrous predators in their natural habitat.

As the day unfolds:

You are fully briefed on all procedures and the action begins as our crew ‘chums’ the cruise area and you wait with bated breath for your initial glimpse of the first shark fin.
Sharks are usually wary at first and we wait a while for them to settle and then lower the diving cage. Our first guests enter the cage (takes 4 – 6 people) and spend about 20-30 minutes face to face with the sharks! You will also have the opportunity to dive twice its really up to you.
We will work with individual sharks and you can enjoy topside viewing during your wait as shark activity is often close to the surface. In fact, Great Whites are also known for their ‘spy hopping’ – breaching right out of the water in pursuit of prey! Topside viewing can yield a lot of those action shots ! Our Bronze Whaler sharks swim in groups (shivers) and glide over each other like 3 metre snakes. Sometimes Its hard to see exactly how many sharks are In the water and their behavior's are different to that of White Sharks. All of the shark species will be explained to you along with the behaviours, sex size and a lot more about their conservation threats.

SHARK CAGE DIVING CAGE:

The cage is of floating variety and is custom – made using 12mm galvanised steel mesh and comfortably dives up to 7 divers. The cage floats right next to the boat to enable the diver to climb in and out easily. The diving equipment is supplied free of charge. The sharks are not able to enter the cage and have never been interested in doing so.
SHARKSGreat White Sharks are the world’s largest predatory fish, reaching up to 6 meters in length. They are powerful enough to launch their 2-ton bodies clear out of the water and are the ocean’s top predator, and the most feared creature of the sea, to both sailors and sea inhabitants alike.

We do not feed the sharks.
